A Half Goal?

I have been doing these baby n me type classes three times a week for four weeks. The workout is actually a good one, but is more strength/toning than cardio. I havent run an inch since the Shamrock Shuffle.

I have a friend who suggested we do a 1/2 together on Labor Day weekend. While three months is plenty of time to train, I found getting out for runs a bit more challenging as a new mom. Add to that the fact that I hae to do my dissertation and have my first deadline in October.

Im having a tough time figuring this one out :( And the virtual training program starts on Monday ... so I dont have a whole lot of time to decide!

Woo hoo! Thank you for making me feel less alone in dissertation drudgery. Though I don't have the excellent excuse of having a little one to contend with. Touche, my friend. :)

Go for that 1/2 marathon on Labor Day weekend as you need the big goal to stay motivated with your current training. Nothing will keep you more motivated and accountable to your daily running than a race goal. You're very lucky to have a friend who wants to train together...don't let her down!!

That is a tough call. It is very hard to get training in with little ones. I am planning on my first half in Sept. :)

Working on the dissertation with a baby is pretty challenging to then add running too; however, the HM could be a way to reduce stress from both of the above two!

While I don't have the addition of a child to contend with, I have found that race training has helped me exceedingly with my dissertation. I don't know how I could have made it through this year without my runs. My vote is go for it!

jawsome - you are right. While still taking classes for my PhD I was doing marathon training. It kept my whole world in order. I think perhaps this 1/2 would do the same ... but with a baby I am no longer master of my own universe so I cant even guess what the future holds ;)
