The Death Of Naptime Running

Well, that didnt last long. I had the kids syncing up with naps for a few weeks. It was awesome. I could run. I could eat. I could enjoy just a nice moment of silence. But, its over.

Ryan's schedule has changed. He sleeps all night, but wakes up earlier. He also has dropped from 3 naps to 2. He is waking up from his second nap at the same time she is going down for her nap. He goes to bed for the night at 6pm and just can't make it a second later than that.

Now I spend all day getting the kids to bed and getting them out of bed. I dont have any time during the day and can only do my running at about 8pm now. I can do it every once-in-a-while, but its HARD. By that time I'm just so wiped I have no motivation. And, on the nights I do run that late, I'm wired afterwards and cant get to sleep! What a crazy cycle ;)

ha that made me laugh because I can totally relate! I'm sure you knew that the wonderful life of having all the kids sleeping the same time so you could do things would NEVER last lol...darn kiddies! What about waking in the early morning? I know nights are hard for me also!

I forget, do you have a running stroller? Seems like a solution may be to take them with you!

I have a jogging/all terrain stroller. There are some issues though. First, with the kids and the stroller - its about 100LBS! Second, I live in the heart of the city. The sidewalks all have big cracks and the streets are super busy. I can barely walk down them pushing the double :( I dont know how I would run.

I've thought about hitting the lakefront - but by the time I packed up the kids and got out there it would be time for someone to eat, or to nap, or something.

As for the early AM - I'm having trouble with that too. The baby wakes up anywhere from 5 to 7 am. If he is up at 5, he is going down for a nap by the time his sister gets up. If he is up later, he goes down about 9. Just about the time I finally get everyone fed and changed. Its really hard to get out the door. Kids! So cute, but so much trouble ;)

Naps make things hard. But I wouldn't want my kid to go without!

I hope the kids get back in a groove for you. I know how hard it can be to run in the evening, personally I am not a fan of late day running. Great blog, I will be back :)
