25 Weeks Of Failure

Im 25 weeks along in my pregnancy, I have about 15 more to go. While its good that I'm moving along and getting closer to my due date, I have been promising to get more active since day one and now have spent 62% of this pregnancy making promises and not a whole lot else. I have training once a week and keep saying I'll do yoga. But I hit the same problem every week with yoga, I just cant make it!

When I was pregnant with Brooke I made it every week. It was easy to make it because I didnt have much else going on ... and I didnt have a toddler to take care of. Now I can't find a free minute. Between school and Brooke I am swamped, but I keep thinking I'll get to yoga on the weekend. But the issue is that I cannot get there on the weekend either! I was sure I could get there this past Saturday, but after Brooke woke up we got into a bunch of chores and stuff around the house and before I knew it it was too late to get myself together to go.

A lot of it is that I just dont get it together. My husband can find a way to go golfing all day on a Saturday or Sunday, but I cant find 1 1/2 hours to do yoga. It seems to hard to get up in the middle of the day and take off to do yoga when there is so much else going on. Honestly, there is so much I would just rather do!

I figured this weekend one of my biggest issues is that this yoga class is in the middle of the day (10:45). Its disruptive so my Saturday or Sunday and that's why I never go. So I searched all over trying to find a yoga class in the AM. I found one at 9:30AM, which is slightly better. But its a bit of a farther drive and I'm not sure it would be all that much better in the end. In my search I came across another option though!

There is a place I looked into a long time ago (maybe before Brooke even?) that specializes in The Bar Method. It's described as a workout that "creates a uniquely lean, firm, sculpted body by combining the muscle-shaping principles of isometrics, the body-elongating practice of dance conditioning, the science of physical therapy and the intense pace of interval training into a powerful exercise format that quickly and safely reshapes and elongates muscles."   When searching for a prenatal yoga class this studio popped up on Yelp - turns out they have a prenatal class.

I searched the schedule online and they didnt list anything, so I shot the studio an email. Turns out, the class meets at 7AM ... but only every other week. Looks like I was a day late because it met this weekend, so the next class I can take is August 7th. With only 15 weeks left it wont give me a lot of opportunity to attend, but its better than nothing, fits into my schedule, and will introduce me to something new that I can follow up with in postnatal exercise should I end up liking it!

Essentially, I guess it's more good and bad news. I found a new workout option, but I cant do it for 2 weeks. I'm still looking and thinking, but feel like I got a little bit of something positive done this weekend at least :)

Here is a little more info on the Bar Method prenatal classes

Sounds like an interesting class. HOpe you get to check it out.

And don't beat yourself up too much. I never managed much in the way of exercise when I was pregnant with my second and I didn't have any trouble getting back in shape afterwards. Just do the best you can.

Would you do a prenatal yoga video at home? That way you could have the luxury of doing it when it fit your schedule. But, it does seem that with yoga, a class is always better. Still...maybe?

maybe you need to find things that you can do anytime and not be scheduled. so even just taking out the stroller when you walk or like you said popping in a DVD, doing a few push ups...just tossing it in randomly rather than feeling constrained to only certain times
