I finally did it. I signed up for a race. Its an 8K and its in about 10 days. Nothing like waiting till the last minute ;)
I pretty much knew I was going to do this race, I was just stalling a bit. I wanted to make sure it fit in with my schedule ... and also that I was going to be ready to run it. The schedule is tricky, but it works. I've been doing 3-milers pretty regularly (and easily) on the treadmill for the past few weeks. My goal is to do a couple of 4 milers before the race, maybe even 4.5. Then I should be set to go.
The real reason this race sounds so great is because it's an evening race, with a 7:15PM start. I've never done anything like that and think it should be cool. Not to mention the face that all participants get a free cupcake. Sometimes I finding the motivation to run is a challenge, but a free cupcake is worth a 5 mile run for me. I'm motivated for sure!
