I Need More Hours in a Day

I am physically unable to do all things I want in a 24 hour period. Even with 6 or less hours of sleep, I still need more time! Today I couldnt squeeze in the 20 minute run. I did have a bit of time in the evening, but really dislike doing any exercise before bed. I have trouble sleeping and late-night workouts only exagerate that. So, instead of doing my run, I went for ice-cream instead. This follows a now quite familiar trend :(
August 29: ice-cream before a run
August 27: ice-cream before a run
August 15: cheated on a run, ate ice-cream after
August 7: skipped a run, ate ice-cream instead
July 23: ate ice-ream after a run
June 11: followed a run with pierogi's and ice-cream

Since I didnt do my workout I am very concerned about getting it done tomorrow. So I go through my schedule tomorrow and realize that unless I give up my Cubs game (not gonna happen) that I really dont have time tomorrow either. I have come up with an unfortunate solution: drive Jeff to work at 6:30 am so I can go to the gym before class. ARRRH. This is not fun - but see how dedicated I am to my Marathon-self? I can promise you if I wasnt 20 DAYS out from having to run 26.2 miles I wouldnt even consider it. There is one other small motivation ... VEGAS! I am heading to Las Vegas this weekend for a wedding, and have already committed to making this weekend a well-deserved training break. I just cant take a training break before my training break, thus my workouts this week are pretty essential.

Being Constructive
I mentioned some things I need to get done prior to the Marathon. And I have made some progress! I did Pilates today - and noticed I still have back pain left from Saturday. This forced me to set up a massage - which I did for next Monday. In addition, I did some research on the pace team. The pace team (according to the FAQ on the Chicago Marathon website) is free and you sign up at the Expo (held the days prior to the event). One small issue:
What if I have to go to the bathroom?
The Pace Team Leaders will not be planning any bathroom breaks during the Race and will not wait for you. It is suggested that you run ahead of the team a bit and then jump back in with the team or catch up with them.

Patti and I have noticed it takes us approximately 4 minutes to go to the restroom. There is no way I would be able to rejoin a pace-team after a bathroom stop. I think that whoever wrote this was not a woman :)

You know you are one of my favorite running bloggers because you are the only one who admits to ice cream and cookies in lieu of running! Only 20 days out until the big day? I hope it goes quickly for you.

I eat ice cream like every day and darn it I'm sure it helps my running. I think you may have to suck it up for the morning runs if it's the only way to get them in to finish your training... you're so close, you gottat keep the fitness you've gained!!

Now on the bathroom stops, I'm totally afraid to stop and don't..but I think that's maybe just a weird head case thing. :)
