Trotless Thanksgiving

In 2007, when I started running, the Turkey Trot was my first 8K. I had fun, and thought it would become an annual tradition. The next year I had Brooke. On Thanksgiving she was 6 weeks old. Not only had I not yet returned to running, but I was taking care of my new baby as she battled her first cold. Last year I spent my Thanksgiving morning running in our local Turkey Trot, and the rest of the day caring for a sick toddler. This year I have a three week old baby and have yet to return to running. In addition, the little guy has been really sick with his first cold since last friday. Though it would have been impossible for me to predict my future as I crossed that finisg line in 2007, it looks like my Thanksgiving tradition has nothing to do with running and actually involves taking care of my sick children instead :)

On a better note, I now am only 2 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight at 3 weeks post-partum. I have three more weeks until I will be cleared to return to exercise. As soon as I can get clearance from my doctor, I can start my personal training or one of the (many) post natal classes available in the city. I have yet to figure out how I will find the time, or energy, but seeing signs that my body is snapping back so quickly (which did not happen with Brooke) gives me a little bit of hope!

She does look pretty rad! I am jealous. I am still three lbs over my pre-thanksgiving weight.
