Well, I knew it was coming.
I met with my dissertation advisor yesterday and he basically told me I had 6 weeks to get my dissertation proposal done or he was dropping me. Most people dont understand what a dissertation proposal (or anything to do with a dissertation) consists of and I'm not going to go through that much trouble to explain the details ... but I've been working on it for about 2 years now. Sure, I've been distracted and balancing a lot on my plate. Yes, I could have had it completed long ago with focus and determination. But 6 weeks is a pretty short deadline. And I get it. I really do. He is tired of me making excuses and drawing out the process, and with another baby on the way I dont look like a very good investment for his time.
I'll just add "dissertation proposal" to my list of things to do over the next 6 weeks. It's not like I've got anything else going on ;)
