A Miracle Run

Back in March of last year, not too many days from today, I did the impossible. I ran on water. And if you think its a once-in-a-lifetime-thing, you are wrong. This morning, I once again ran on water. I must be some sort of angel, or a hovercraft at least. Needless to say, my GPS got screwed up during this mornings run. I am guesstimating that we did 5.2 miles from tinkering around on a map. I dont think it was more than that, but it could have been slightly less. Because I am awesome enough to run on water I gave myself the benefit of the doubt and went with 5.2.

Running Log
Time:53:21   Distance:5.20mi   Pace:10:16

That pace makes it seem a bit like maybe I did less than 5.2. I know the total time is right, and I also know I was running pretty fast with my friend Gina. Well, "fast" for me. I know I could pace 10:16 if I was running fast ... but there were a few things along the way that made this seem not likely. The path was icy in spots, enough that there wasnt a way around it. During those times I stopped to walk across the ice (I wasnt being a baby, I'd say it was 5ft of ice, and my hurdling skills are quite weak). So that would have slowed me down a bit. Add to that the fact that on the very last patch of ice I fell down on my bootie in front of a bunch of people, and I'd say I likely slowed down at those points.

But at the same time I think we could have been going pretty fast. I tried to keep up with Gina the whole way instead of trying to slow her down (which is my usual trick). And the last mile or so we had these two girls tailing us, and by tailing us I mean that I think they might have climbed up on my back and were hitching a ride. They were so close I could hear their breathing, and unfortunately, every singe word they said. And, of course, the talked the entire time. Because they were so close and really quite annoying, I could tell that I was pushing myself pretty hard to go faster. It didnt help because no matter how fast I was running they still were right there. And in the grand finale, when I wiped out on the ice, the tailers got a great show.

The short version of this story is that I may or may not have run 10:16 pacing. I may or may not have run 5.2 miles. I definitely ran 5, and it definitely took me 53 minutes and 21 seconds. The End :)

LOL - you CAN run on water!

I stop and walk over ice too. I have fallen too many times this year! I hope your fall today is okay.

I hate it when someone is behind me and chatting about something I find annoying, breathing too loud, stomping their shoes (that was last weekend)... ugh!

oh isn't there a song about walking on water! that's pretty awesome, I haven't tried it but I don't think I'd do well

I was doubting it at first, but GPS doesn't lie, right?
