I Am Mad At The Cubs

The Cubs made the playoffs. Thats awesome. Problem is, the Cubs scheduled their games for Saturday, October 6th at 5pm and Sunday, October 7th at 12pm. On October 6th I have a Team in Training pasta party at 5:00pm and on October 7th I will still be running the Marathon at 12:00 pm. So my husband now cannot go (or has opted not to go!) to my team pasta party ... and everyone I know is going to be trying to ditch out on my Marathon finish so they can watch the Cubs :)

These games are the 3rd and 4th of a 5 game series...so hopefully the Cubs will sweep in three and dont have to compete with the Marathon at all. But I have a feeling that there will be a game 4 - and my very one Chicago Cubs are going to steal my thunder! What are the odds of the Cubs in the playoffs first of all. And what are the odds of me running a marathon? The odds are not likely for either event - but the odds of both taking place the same day? Its got to be like one in a billion :) So in order for me to get the full attention of my friends and family - I need the Cubs to SWEEP in three. GO CUBS!

Today was a truly hectic day - from scheduled meetings, to pilates and a run, to some of my favorite weekly tv shows that just so happen to all hit on the same night and (of course) simultaneously. Now that my brain is fully in meltdown after watching four hours of shows, I believe that I can finally head to sleep. That is, unless Jeff and I decide to watch the one show left we had to TiVo. In that case, I have about an hour left of my day! But, I did get some important things done today - most notably my race singlet is finished. I went in to get my name on it, and the girl did it as I waited. Since I can check off one thing on my list - I can now be happy with my productive day.

Training Log
Time:  40:00 time  Distance:3.66 miles   Pace:  10:56 min/mi
Today was a 40 minute run and I took it as easy as possible. I think I was lucky it was raining because it forced me to use the treadmill. And by using the treadmill I could force myself to run at a slower pace than I ususally do when I head out in the neighborhoods. So I set the pace to a smidge less than 11 minutes and set out for my 40 minute run. It was boring, but I managed. Only a few more runs left!

Okay, so GO CUBS and sweep in three and all that. No matter WHO is there to see you finish (I'll be there yelling since I can't be there running), what matters most is YOU know you finish and nobody can take that away from you. And think of it this way, should the Cubs go to game four and WIN IT THERE, what an AMAZING day - you ran the marathon and your team goes to the show. Pretty damn cool.

I don't understand what the people who choose the times are thinking. A day game on marathon day? Insane.

Curious how you got your name on your shirt. I was just going to go with puffy paint or sharpee, but it sounds like you did something fancy.

I will be with you in thought! Maybe you can borrow Tom's cheering section too!

Good luck - let us know how you do!

Yeah - the city is going to be CRAZY on Sunday! The Cubs and Marathon...overlapping. Actually, people will be running through the Lakeview area when people are heading to the game (park opens at 10:00AM). Talk about crazy crowd issues....
But, if the Cubs sweep in 3 we are golden ;)
