No Cicada Sightings - Another Midweek Workout Success!

Today I spent the day inside working on my paper...and I got through a good portion of it. I promised my professor I would send it to her by Friday at 10am, so I have a real deadline that I need to make - for real this time! Tomorrow I will have most of the day to work on it...the dog has a 9:10am doctors appointment and I have my new pilates class at 8:00pm. Take out some time for dinner and that leaves me a good amount of time to devote to the paper. I am going to try to send it to her tomorrow night to make sure she gets it because she leaves out of town on Friday morning and promised me to review it on her plane. I guess the deadline is a good thing because I always work better under pressure.

Awaiting Arrival
The cicadas were due to arrive yesterday ... of course its not the only day they can arrive, but they have been spotted in some nearby suburbs. I keep looking for them - not because I want to see them, but because the sooner they arrive the sooner they leave! I know once they come I will have 30 days of icky, nasty experiences - and I really worry about running and having them land on me (especially my face...EEEEWWWW).

Training Log
Time:  38.32 minutes  Distance:3.74 miles   Pace:  10:20min/mi
Tonight was the midweek workout - and it was quite similar to last week. More people were there than the first time, which was nice. We still did the 3 mile run, but we did it a bit differently. Last time we did 100 meter sprints every 400 meters or so. This time we ran 400 meters at a faster pace, followed by 400 meters at a slower pace. The goal was to evenly pace the faster 400 meter runs, to work on our pacing skills. I think it was a bit easier than the sprinting option, but it was much hotter this time (by at least 10 degrees). It was also humid! After each mile this time I had to stop to get something to drink - which was different than last time when I ran straight through.

My left knee hurt again most of the time, and it hurt a lot after - which reminds me I still need to ice it. I think some of my problems would be better with my knees if I was more disciplined about the treatment: icing regularly, strengthening exercises, etc.
Progress Made
  • Completed another midweek workout. They really are hard!
  • Moving forward on the paper, and set a deadline to complete it - its down to the last hours now!
Lessons Learned
  • Gotta be more rigorous about tending to my knees
