I Got 6 Miles in the Bag

Today is sunny, warm - basically perfect. Todays run was the same :) I have to admit it was a bit tougher than last week, but once I figured out my pace I understood why - I ran about a minute per mile faster today than last week. Today I ran with a different girl (but still with the same group) who has traditionally been a bit in front of me during our runs...so it makes sense that I was a bit faster too. The best part of it all is that even though my knee bothered me (not killing...but bothersome) during the run, and afterwards it was throbbing - it stopped hurting within an hour or so after the run. Right now I would say its "achey" - which is much different than the constant pain I have experienced after some of my recent runs. Thats awesome!

If You Must Study - Study In Your Swimsuit
There is tons of studying I need to do, and I still have to write this paper - but one element of my studying involves re-reading a book I had to read last year. Since is so great out, I went out on my deck to read. So far I got three chapters read, got a little sun...and Wrigley got to go swimming in her pool. I forgot to take pictures, but she was psyched for one of her early season swim sessions :) Here is a picture from last summer, as she mastered the amazing feat of swimming while holding two balls in her mouth:

Training Log
Time:  64.45 minutes  Distance:6.00 miles   Pace:  10:48min/mi
The run was great - my fastest run yet - and still quite a distance! Next weekend is EIGHT miles. Thats two more than today! I definitely need to run at a slower pace than I did today, because I am not too sure I could have made two more miles at that pace.
Progress Made
  • Ran the same distance as last weekend - at about a minute per mile faster!
  • I remembered to wear my new shoes, correctly alternating as I was told by the trainer (maybe thats why the knee feels good?)
  • Got oatmeal at breakfast instead of pancakes...which I had to struggle with myself a bit over. BUT...then got home and tried to convince my husband to go out to dinner at a place that has my favorite dessert :(
Lessons Learned
  • WHHOO HHHOO! I am a speed deamon

Hi Dawn, Way to go..Glad to see you are up to 6 mi now. Very proud of you!! When I get home from this place (Manila) I will step up my campaign to get donations for your efforts. I have a couple, just need to get them your url. My dad has also said he will donate however he will not do it over the net. He said he will write a check and will give it to you when he is here in a few weeks.

You are closing the gap.........only 20 more miles to go. Did Jeff ever take you to dinner?? When I get back we will go to Cantigny for a belated Mother's Day (that I missed) brunch.
