The morning we left I woke up with a cold - it has gotten progressively worse. Vegas was fun, but a bit hampered by this sudden curse from the Virus Gods. In some sense, I was lucky - it came on pretty slow and I was able to function and have fun in Vegas. Most importantly ... my appetite did not suffer :) But now I am paying the consequences as the cold continues to worsen. I was supposed to participate in a run tonight, but think I am best keeping myself at home and worrying about resting. There have been lots of people I know fighting colds for more than a week - and I now have less than 2 weeks until the Marathon! Mind over matter...I can will it away.
Onto Better Stuff
I got lots of info on the Marathon! Thought I would post it all before I forget.
RACE DAY RUNNER TRACKING
Registration for in-race runner tracking is now available. Receive electronic updates during the race to keep you posted on your favorite runners' (ME!) progress as they cross multiple checkpoints along the course. Updates will be delivered for the following marks: 15K, halfway point, 35K and Finish Line. Automatic updates will be sent via text message or email to the device registered.
There is a small issue with this right now - I have two registrations! Someone is looking into it so that friends/family can correctly track me

I think it is your bodies way of making you slow down until the race. And a good reason to make/eat some chicken noodle soup - that solves everything. Take care of yourself!

There is actually a proven study that people get sick on vacation because you've finally let your body slow down and so the hormones that were keeping you going stop...really unfair!
I wish the SF marathon had a nice little spectator guide. right now all they have is the ability to buy a pass and get on a shuttle..oh well so long as someone is cheering me on!
