Pet Peeves

I admit, maybe I am cranky today. It seems that little things keep getting on my nerves and all I can do is think about them. You know how little stuff seems bigger, and drives you nuts? I think that the world knows my pet peeves today, and one at a time is hitting me with them :)
Multiple Calls - Multiple Messages
When you try to call someone and they don't answer, I think its fine for you to call alternate numbers. But it drives me nuts when people leave messages at all numbers. If you leave a message at one number, you gotta give the people a chance to call you back before calling every number you have listed for them and leaving the same message over and over ... and then following it up with an email. There is a such thing as OVERCOMMUNICATION!

Bad Food is Ok - if You Have "Good" Food With it
You see people all the time, they order a huge sundae or fried chicken or something like that ... then they say, "better make it a Diet" when they order their pop. Like its gonna help! Well, we all do it. And today, as I checked all the nutrition labels on everything I placed into my cart at the grocery store ... it seemed to make it allright to put junk food into the cart. And not just one thing - two packages of cookies, chocolate covered pretzels and chocolate covered raisins. Thank goodness I got the low fat / low calorie chicken sausage and low fat buns for dinner - that should make the three cookies I already ate ok!

Strangers Talking to Me
Maybe I am not a friendly person and other people don't mind it - but I hate when random people talk to me. Today, I was putting my groceries in the back of the car and couldnt resist grabbing a cookie. This older guy was walking behind me into the store and said "Can I have a bite?". Um, weird. And ... NO!

Rude Solicitors
So we put ourselves on the "do not call list" a long time ago - I have a feeling it expired or something because we are getting calls like crazy. I think its rude in the first place to call people on the weekends or late at night and try to sell them stuff ... but I know if I dont answer they will keep calling back. So lately I have been answering all of the calls. I listen to their schpeil (because I am so nice) and then politely tell them "no thank you". On two different occasions I have had a solicitor snicker when I said no - like I am evil (for saying no to St. Jude) or an idiot (for passing up this fantabulous deal). I get it that its a job, and they probabaly hate calling us as much as we hate getting the calls ... but snickering? And general rude tones? Rediculous.

Rude Shoppers
Its seems common the people in grocery stores will block an entire isle while they are browsing, and refuse to move their bodies or their carts so that you can pass. In addition, when you are walking down an isle with your cart, and someone is walking towards you with their cart ... its like a game of chicken. I swear, nobody ever moves for me! I am always the "chicken", but I think if I didnt move, there would be some near-fatal isle collisions :)

Ticketmaster
People have been raging about Ticketmaster fees forever. I dont go to a lot of concerts so it never seems like a big deal to me, and since I generally support most forms of business I figured they deserve to add on ticket charges - how else do they make their money? Well, I think I changed my mind! I am going to a show with a few friends and the tickets are $33. Ticketmaster puts a 10.50 service charge on each, and then the venue puts a 4.50 facility charge on top of that. So the tickets are almost $50! Then on top of the price for 4 tickets, there is an "order processing fee" and a "delivery fee". I would really like to know where all of this money goes. They make it seem like the $33 goes right to the artist, thats why they need to charge the fees - to cover costs and make profit. I highly doubt the artist is getting the full-face ticket value. I am officially mad at Ticketmaster.
