Baked and Wired

After leaving my sisters place (and saying goodbye to my cat nephews) I head to the Georgetown area of D.C. My hotel is in the area, and so is my conference (which starts tomorrow). There was also a coffee/pastry place I found recommended online (Yelp maybe?) and thought I would check it out.

I got a latte and a cupcake at "Baked and Wired". The cupcake was good, better than CakeLove - but I still love my Sensational Bites. I couldnt figure how to connect to the wireless there (yeah, I am practically a genius) so I headed down the street to Barnes & Noble, where I have been for most of the day. I am debating - do I get lunch here, or do I grab a brownine from Baked & Wired on my way to the hotel? Actually, just typing that question enabled me to answer it. Brownie it is!

Supposedly, the brownie is the Baked and Wired specialty, and since the cupcake was pretty good, I think I am ready to try the next pastry on my list ;)

I am also trying to figure out how to squeeze in a workout. I guess I have to talk to the hotel - supposedly they dont have a gym, but give you a pass to a local Bally's. I walked around though, and didnt see a Ballys. Hmmmm.

My friends/fellow students/fellow conference attendees land around 3, so I have a bit of time until we all meet up. We also have an informal get-together for the conference tonight at The Front Page. My sisters friend, Michael, said its kind of a place for suits/business people. That makes it probably appropriate for the conference attendees, but not really a place I want to hang all night. The good thing is, this place is in the DuPont area, and there are lots of fun bars here and there. The conference starts tomorrow morning pretty early - but I dont present until Thursday. That means I can have a bit of fun tonight...but my partner and I still arent done with our presentation - so it looks like there cant be TOO much fun on tonights agenda :)
