I Blame The Baby

This is supposed to be the second (of an 8 week) 8K training program. Last week I did one three-miler and two two-milers. Its Thursday, and so far I have logged a whopping zero miles. But, its been a pretty rough week.

The little guy has decided not to sleep. At night he has been waking up hourly, during the day he wont nap for more than 30 minutes. With his 30 minute naps, he just cant last long, so I end up putting him down for four (or more) naps a day. At night he sleeps ok for the first few hours, but starting around midnight wakes up crying every hour. Last night he was up at 12, 1 and 2:30. He was up again at 4 to eat. He then went back to sleep, but woke up again at 5:50. I had to bring him into my room so he didnt wake his sister (which he has also been doing lately) and it took until about 6:45 to get him back to sleep. He is still sleeping, but now Brooke is up for the day.

I have been totally exhausted. Even as a newborn he would sleep more than an hour at a time! And to add to that, Brooke has been having trouble falling asleep. It is taking her an hour to wind down at both naptime and bedtime. She isnt getting to sleep until 8 (or even 9!) at night. So she cant fall asleep, and he cant stay asleep :(

My only opening is to go for a run after the kids are are asleep. But at 8 or 9 at night I am so exhausted after a sleepless night and hectic day ... there is no way I'm going to go out running. I hope Ryan figures out this situation soon, because for now my entire life revolves around how he sleeps each day!

Ugh, that sucks! Especially because babies can't tell you WHY they're waking up and it's such a game of speculation and process of elimination. How old is he now? He couldn't possibly be old enough to begin teething now, is he?

Best of luck, and don't worry about the running! Sleep comes first for any tired parent!

He is 3.5 months. I dont think its teething, but I hope its something to do with a developmental milestone or something. He is doing a lot of babbling, grasping, and (trying) to roll. I hope he just has a lot going on in his head that is disrupting his sleep. If not ... I'm in trouble! I'm trying to change his napping and sleeping schedule up a bit to see if it helps, just in case.
